Who we are

We are the world’s leading designers, manufacturers and suppliers of vehicle adapations, including powerful wheelchair and scooter hoists and easy-to-operate person lifts.

Our story began in 1979 when our founder, David Walker, who had been paralysed in an accident four years earlier, invented a device to hoist his wheelchair into a box on top of his car, enabling him to travel to work independently.

By 1983, he put his idea into production, and Autochair was born. We now operate out of a state-of-the-art factory and serve markets worldwide but still make it out mission to make car travel easy and accessible to all, whether they are a driver or passenger.
